I've done a search before posting this topic but haven't found anything. 7900GT and X1800XL both cost around $399 CAD, but I don't know which one is better.

Also, an alternative solution to it (if I don't have money) is, X800GTO2 and 7600GT are both around $ 198 CAD, and I don't know which one is better. Since I've heard that the X800GTO2 from Sapphire can be unlocked to 16 pipelines, and it uses the same core as X850XT PE, I think it's a pretty good card to get. And one more question, after I unlock GTO2 to 16 pipelines, will it run at the speeds (core and memory) of X850XT PE?

That whole 7800GT being ALOT better than the X1800XL....you might want to think about reversing your opinion...

Obviously, if you mistyped I can understand. I'd take a 7900GT over an X1800XL. The GT was aimed at the X1900XT...

Personally, I'd just sink your money into a single high end GPU
(7900GTX or X1900XTX) Save you money and the preformance would
still be there.

Well I just picked up an 1800xl for £164 when the cheapest 7800gt was £232, gt might have a slight advantage here and there but for the price, and for hdr + aa I think the xl is a bargain. Can't wait for it to arrive!!

*edit: oh, you're on about the 7900, sorry!

that's a great price for a great card. i'd get an x1800xt because of the 500MHz faster memory, and the fact that in the US, they cost the same.

You can get the X1800XT for $289 at newegg.com. I also believe that the XT has 48 Gb/s vs the XLs 32 Gb/s on the memory vs 42 Gb/s on the 7900GT. I also haven't seen anything change from the XT's 256 version and 512, in regards to memory bandwidth.

Thanks for the replies guys. So 7900GT is a better card. The point is, I couldn't find the X1800XT 256MB version in Canada. There is only 512MB version of X1800XT($567 cheapest), which costs more than X1900XT ($549 cheapest).

I got the XL cos usually they're about £220, not far off the price of the XT's, so I thought I'd snap it up before they changed there minds, they only had 6 in stock! Still can't find 'em any cheaper than that even on ebay and kelkoo!

Also, it's supposed to be pretty easy to wind it up to XT speed/performance.
