i just OC'd my P4 630 up 10% to 3299.7 and ive run superpi and 3dmark05.

i was just wondering how long i should run super pi before it is comfortably stable?

should i run it for like a couple hours, just once or twice, or like over night?

thx alot.

IMO, it is stable... 10% on an Intel CPU is not really much of an overclock and not much stress at all.
You should easily be able to get 20% and more on stock cooling with no voltage increase.

thx alot rich i appreciate it.

but i was refering to when would i know that its completely stable because im going to be going above 10% and wanted to know how long i would need to run super pi until i could go up more. say to like 15%, run super pi, then up it again?

should i let it run over nite before i up it again?

Honestly, it is up to you... there is no definitive... For me, I am impatient, and I usually test burn in for 30min's or so, then I try gaming it and check for errors.
But stable for a couple of hours is generally enough, just monitor the temps since that is what really causes failure and damage to system if they exceed thermal design.
I believe that to be around 80C for your CPU which is the point it starts throttling, but you should easily be able to keep it well below 70C
under very high overclocks.

You need good ram to get alot out of your P4, my old one 530 could go to 3,9GHz... That was with DDR550 rams... (not DDR2)

I OC my Prescott 630 to 3750 without increasing the voltage. I keep like that for 5 months and I had no problems at all. I ran Prime95 for some time and played games hours and hours and no problem. the temp are around 33 degrees C Idle and a little over 40 on load. I guess you can try to OC more too without any problems.

That is Kick A$$ man.

U can OC more but I recommend that you buy a good CPU cooler first. I recommend the one I use (Arctic Freezer 7 Pro). It's not expensive and is very efficient, and comes with preapplied MX1 paste.
