O.K. I'm new here. My question is this, I have an ABIT KN8 SLI mobo and a 7800 GT OC graphics card (two of them actually, I am running SLI). When I go into my Bios there is a setting for the PCI express bus speed, this can be adjusted in increments of 1mhz from 1000mhz to 1040mhz. My question is this, if my card on the box says it has a memory clock of 1050mhz, should I push my bus speed up to 1040mhz? I have researched this online and havn't had much success. Do I need not even bother with it? Are these two totally diferent clock speeds? I have gotten the bus speed up to 1015mhz before getting nervous and backing it back down, no artifacts at that setting though. I am scared to death of frying my cards and or mobo.

Hmm..there is 2 PCI-E speeds, 1 for the Entire BUS (which is 2500MHz) and 1 for the CARD (which SHOULD be 100MHz). I haven't used that ABIT board so I don't know what funky crap they have setup, but your Memory Speed and Core Speed for VID Card have nothing to do with the speed of PCI-E, so don't worry about that.

Man I am dense, I just went back and checked my Bios, your right dude, it is only from 100MHz to 140MHz, not the thousands. Sorry about that. At any rate, what is this setting for?

The 100Mhz is the speed at which the card communicates to the motherboard, don't worry about changing that, I've had it up to 125MHz and hasn't given improvement, it's a waste.
Well that eases my mind some. I wanted to make sure I was getting the full effect of my card and all. Thanx for the fast response on that man. I think I am just gonna leave that setting alone.
