Another multifunction query: scan speed

After looking over the many similar posts here, I'm still wondering if
anyone has a recommendation for a multi-function with good scan speed.


I was pretty happy with the scan speed of the Brother MFC-8220 (which
is B/W scan only), but returned it for an HP 3015 (thinking them equal)
becuase the Brother had such bigger footprint. The scanning on the HP
is so slow to be useless, so I'm back on the market. If I'm stuck with
a big footprint, then a large, legal-size copier glass would be good,
but I'm only ever going to scan B/W documents. Fast print speed with
high laser-quality text is also key (the warm-up time on the 8220 was
also a pain.) Cnet gave a pretty high rating to the Samsung SCX-4720F,
but I don't see much in the line of user comments. I've also been
trying to get some real word review of the Ricoh AC104 (on sale at
Costco), or the Sharp AL-1641CS (also Costco; no fax). Thanks!
