Does anyone know if you can use rechargable ni-cd batteries in a logitech wireless mouse and keyboard? What about lithium? I want something that will last longer than a month.

You can use any battery you like in wireless keyboards and mice (mouses ? - I'm really not sure on the plural for a pc mouse) provided they are the correct size, shape, volts and amps.

What you're looking for is a term called "mAh" which stands for "milliamp hours" Say your standard battery has a rating of 700mAh, depending on how much the device consumes will determine how long it'll last on a charge. Now let's say you get some rechargables that can hold 3000mAh. On the same device, these batteries will last over ~4x longer than the 700mAh. This is just the very, very basics. I've got 3 sets of 4 AAs that are rated at 3000mAh for all my electronics and a 15second charger (15seconds @ 2000mAh). I just leave a set in the charger, ready to go, if anything I have needs a fresh set -- keyboard and mouse included.

I use the energizer e2 lithium batteries in my logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. They have lasted over a year and I use my pc quite a bit. They are for camera's I think and are pretty expensive.

You can use rechargables. That's what I do usually. I did start using the e2 lithiums as bradybunch pointed out and I haven't changed them for like over three months now and that's with pretty heavy usage. But, they are kinda expensive though.

The best bet is to have two sets of rechargables, one charging and one in use. Works well.

I want ever use the e2 again. I installed them in my palm, 2 months later they needed replacing, no big deal, right?

WRONG, they had leaked, with a use by date 5 yrs off. 2 months of use.
