GF7600 Vs Older GF-series

Hi guys,
i want to spend 200-250e for a new VGA (pci-express)

The new 7600 looks nice, but only 8 pipelines and 128bit mem.
How would it compare to a 6800GS or the cheapest 7800 ?
What would you prefer for your machine ?

(I m going for nvidia coz the new M/B will be a NForce 4 chipset)

7600GT

You should look at the GT model. 12 pixel pipes. Its still 128bit, but it should run better then 6800GS. Can't remember the benchmarks, but I saw it did well against it.

There is no question 7600GT has 12 pipelines.
And it do work better than 6600 series.

i mean CMON ... u know u seen the Benchmarks from the 7600 gt , it beats the 6800gs in all ! is that enough proof ? i guess not

7600gt is a new core , 90nm , and less voltage to power it

i guess people see the card and think why is it so small and the heatsink looks like something from the 6600gt line

Just because it's faster it doesn't mean it's better dude... Look at the spec's before looking at the benchmarks.

7600GT is a 128-128membus. it just has faster memory.

6800gs, 256-256. Intellisample 3.0 Vertex Shaders 3.0, Pixel Shaders 3.0. This is why I purchased the 6800GS. OC it just a little bit, and you've got an GT. Not OC the 7600 isn't going to happen. It's already there.

While I agree that core and memory speeds are not the only factors one should consider when looking at a card, the specs aren't either. The 7600 GT is definately a better card in all aspects, except maybe if you are planning on doing extremem overclocking. However, the price of the 7600 GT and the performance increase over the 6800 GS make it definately the better pick for 99% of people.

id stick with the 7600GT because they will last way longer, and also have SM3.0 plus everyone likes to play at highest settings and the 7600GT can do that. Good Luck.
