Okay, I'm working on getting a gaming system together. My current computer is horribly slow for gaming, it's starting to drive me nuts (Getting choppy at 1024x768 is completely unacceptable). I was looking at computers from ABS, Polywell, Ibuypower etc and they all were coming in around 1300 with monitor. Could I beat these with a homebuilt? I'm looking at the Viewsonic VX922 and VP930.

Thanks,
Nathan

Well, I answered my own question. With ABS, I got a 6800GS and an Athlon 64 4000+, and a little faster ram. Building my own through NewEgg, I can get a 7800GT, Athlon X2 4200+, and a little slower ram.

Good choice, but don't ever rob yourself with slower memory, especially how cheap Memory is getting. What didn't you go with an Opty though?

I just purchased the 6800GS as well last night. After months of research, lol. 256-256mem bandwith, Intellisample 3.0 Vertex Shaders 3.0 and Pixel Shaders 3.0. My ATI 9700Pro finally seen it's last days. Wow, what a card.
