mobo speaker thingy question

sup people,

This is my first time putting together a pc. Im not too sure if i have to insert this four pin speaker cylinderical thing into my mobo? What is it for anyway? Also i have a 7800gt video card and the card doesnt have a connection place for the sound from cd rom drive. I just plug the cdrom drive wire into the mobo where is says cdrom. Is this the same as the connection from vid card to cdrom drive?

the speaker should be able to plug in either way round, shouldn't matter about polarity. it isnt necessary, but it gives a nice beep when u turn ur pc on and everythings OK.

If you're using windows XP or newer you don't need the 4 pin audio cable at all

Is this the same as the connection from vid card to cdrom drive

wusy's absolutely right, the gfx card has nothing to do with sound
