hello, im new to this. this is my 1st post.

currently i have the following:

pentium 4 2.6
512 meg ram
nvidea geforce fx5200 pci 128 ram
160 gig 7200rpm hard drive
dvd burner

now the thing is i am very happy with my computer but its very behind on playing games. id like to start playing call of duty and medal of honor and other new games at 1024 screen. so i know i need to spend some money on the card.

i was thinking about 3 options.

option one is to buy a dell Dimension XPS for max $2,500 canadian. finance it. i have excellent credit. but i dont think spending my hard earned 2,500 canadian is a good idea. is that machine really worth it or should i buy the exact parts locally and get some one to build it for like 100 bux?

option two. keep the same computer add maybe 1 gig of ram and spend some money to buy a new video card? if i buy radeon x1900 or any top of the line card for agp for around 600 dollars? would buying a new card let me play games at full high textures and stuff?

option 3. simply keep my computer and buy a xbox 360 for gaming.
i read here that to enjoy 360 i need a 1080 i lcd monitor. i was planning on buying that any way. right now i have those old fat monitors crt's so thats not a problem.

thanks in advance.

Buy the parts yourself which will give you more freedom with what you want, save the extra money and get yourself a 360.

Either upgrade for $200-ish and go for a stopgap card (like an X800 GTO or 6800 GS), or just get a new system (not a dell though - you can get a kick-ass gaming system for $1500)

Go down to your local DTI computer store and they'll build you a gamer you'll just adore for 2500 dollars.latest graphics and the rest.anyways, just some food for thought.i've been dealing with them for a few years now,and i'm still impressed with their customer service.www.dticomputers.com.

If you budget gaming then get a regular pc either AMD or Intel. You can pick up a decent one for around $600-$800 with AMD 2.2Ghz or Intel 3.2Ghz and just add more ramage to 2Gb and a 7900GT and you should be able to play games such as COD2, BF2, FEAR and alike.

I got a $700 Gateway pc that I gave to my bro. I hooked it up with a 7800GT and 2Gb of ram. It plays great with COD2, FEAR and BF2. I've spent a total of $1200 on it and it's fast.
