work on the Dell Inspiron e1505.

My Dell e15050 came with a512MB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) - I want a total of GB -
so can I match can I match 533 with 667??

You can but it would be a waste for the 667 ram, since the mobo will set the ram speed and timings to that of the slower ram. Means that mix with the 533, the 667 will be adjusted automatically by the mobo to match the 533. Sure you can oc the ram to 667 but it would make that 533 ram unstable.

When it comes to mixing rams, it would only be fast as the slowest one.

So, now you know. Buy the same exact brand and model for perfect compatability and stability.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I would eventually replace the 533 for a 667 so that I would have 2x667. It's just that in the meantime I can only affor one stick and wanted to know if you could match DDR2s of diferent speeds- since they are double-rate.

More likely the 533 and 667 will work together, but there are few cases that they don't. It depends on the mobo really, I've tried it many times on my pc and had no problem with. But as you mention, for mixing the rams temporarily until you can get another 667 to work in tandem, well you should be fine then. :D
