Are artifacts always a result of a problematic video card or perhaps something specific to a game?

I have a 7800 GTX OC'd to 490/1.32 and I play mainly D&D Online, BF2, and Oblivion... of those, only Oblivion displays minor (and seemingly random) artifacts. Most screens render perfectly... artifacts are rare, but definitely present.

I intend to clock my card down a bit to see if it clears up Oblivion.

My temps have been lower than normal since I realized just how dirty my front filter was... not sure if more cooling will do the trick. We'll see how it goes once I get a new case (Kandalf) I do appreciate the input.

No problem.

Just keep in mind, overclocking isn't 100% about the temperatures... at certain speeds, processors will fail regardless of the temperature. It's luck of the draw to a large extent, wether your gpu can handle the speed.
