I'm getting a new rig soon, and want to get the NEC CD/DVD burner at the following link (except I'm getting the silver one...NOT beige).

It's a basic model, so it doesn't come with any connection cords. I have an old computer living in my basement with a CD drive that reads, and does not write info. Would I be able to take the cords from the ancient computer's CD drive and shove them on my new computer's CD/DVD RW drive, or should purchase new cords? I'm also getting a new motherboard, and one of my friends said that the motherboard should come with all the connection cords needed for a CD/DVD drive. I'm getting the below Biostar mobo.
