The 7900 hasn't been a good experience for me and I was wondering should I try another or buy a xt1800xt 512 card? The 7900GT is a very nice card. It's possible eVGA had a bad batch that happens all the time. Return it where you purchased it and get a brand new one or RMA it and get one that works. Just because some 7900GTs are having issues doesn't mean you should go with ATI. ATI cards have issues too. | Report abuse spookz March 30, 2006 4:13:13 AM first batch of evga 7900gt had bios issues. | Report abuse linux_0 March 30, 2006 4:31:54 AM Quote:first batch of evga 7900gt had bios issues. Is it something a VGA BIOS upgrade will fix or do they need to be RMA'd? | Report abuse Hootie March 30, 2006 9:56:20 AM No, eVGA dropped the ball. They have admitted they have driver issues and bios problem. One guy RMA'd his eVGA 7900 and replaced it with a BFG7900 and it works fine.It is not a hardware problem. | Report abuse PX7800GT March 30, 2006 10:47:21 AM OK , Then Replace Your eVGA 7900GT With a BFG or XFX or Leadtek One  | Report abuse Hootie March 30, 2006 11:00:42 AM That's what I plan to do.After hearing all of the " eVGA is great" talk I have made my own mind up about their CUSTOMER SUPPORT, or lack of. | Report abuse scoobertscoobydoo March 30, 2006 11:20:27 AM Quote:card. The 7900 hasn't been a good experience for me and I was wondering should I try another or buy a xt1800xt 512 card? last time i checked, they removed the post screen for the vid card in the 7800 series. i dont see any on the 7800GTX i use... | Report abuse krogoth1989 March 30, 2006 11:30:55 AM I got an eVGA card, works pretty well, even though its an agp 6600gt, which during its time kicked ass. Like they said, maybe it was a bad set. | Report abuse Lan March 30, 2006 2:54:00 PM I got both of mine from eVGA yesterday, and haven't had any major issues. Have you tried the new bios that eVGA has availible? I am having one minor issue, but it is not preventing the card from working at all, so it's not worrying me that much yet. | Report abuse cleeve March 30, 2006 3:13:21 PM Nobody produces perfect cards all of the time. The measure of how good a company is, is how they handle their mistakes... if they take care of you, or hang you out to dry. But mistakes are inevitable. Part of life. | Report abuse carpcmelee March 30, 2006 3:22:13 PM i forgot which article but in theinquirer.net they posted results for 7900gt with 1800xt512. 7900gt slaughtered it and is cheaper | Report abuse Lan March 30, 2006 3:24:19 PM Do you have a link that we can see please? | Report abuse cleeve March 30, 2006 3:27:30 PM The 7900 GT does not slaughter the X1800 XT. They are pretty much neck and neck, in fact the X1800 XT usually bests it in the graphics intensive games that count. Overclocking is a different story, the 7900 GT has a definite edge there. But stock? It certainly doesn't slaughter it. In fact, the X1800 XT is superior from what I've seen. | Report abuse Heyyou27 March 30, 2006 8:27:02 PM He's reading from the wrong sites. | Report abuse Register or log in to remove Ask the community Publish Tom's Hardware>Forum>Graphics & Displays>I have been VERY disappointed with my 1st eVGA> Related ressources: ForumMentally Handicapped Person Needs Help Picking Parts 4 1st Liquid Rig!
