i am looking for some info from someone who has updated the bios on there asus a8n32 sli deluxe as i have never updated a bios before.
it says on there web site you need to insert a floppy disk but i have no floppy disk drive. can i update the bios without one? is it quite easy to do?

Look around on the ASUS site for a program called ASUS Update, you can use it to flash your BIOS from windows. Just check that it will work with your mobo before using it, I only used it on my K8N-E Deluxe.

well better yet...look on your cd...you have am aplication there to flash your bios from windows...btw remember to save your current bios on your pc...in case if...

EDIT: Sorry you don't have to save it...if it crashes you only have to insert the mobo cd and it recovers automaticly...(I have a 8n32-sli too)

I just did this last thursday..I too didnt have a floppy..I was told byeveryone to update the bios via a floppy drive..But i didnt..I downloaded bios 1009not the newer 1103 from asus website.. I then used the asus updater program to install the bios through windows..In the asus updater there is an option to install the bios "from file" thats the one you downloaded...Make sure you unzip it first.. I had no problems doing this..Make sure you close out all your pesky little programs in the tool bar and make sure your anit-virus crap aint running...

Good luck my friend

I recently bought this mobo and was having problems with the BIOS, so I decided to update it. Here's what I did.

  • [*:cb5fdb8613]Install ASUS Update from the ASUS cd.
[*:cb5fdb8613]Used ASUS Update to "Save current BIOS to file", for backup purposes.
[*:cb5fdb8613]Download the latest BIOS (1103) from the ASUS website.
    [*:cb5fdb8613]Unzip the file I downloaded.
[*:cb5fdb8613]Used ASUS Update to "update from file", select the unzipped file.
[*:cb5fdb8613]Select "Flash BIOS", waited until it had finished.
    [*:cb5fdb8613]Restarted my pc.
    [*:cb5fdb8613]Configured my BIOS.
    [*:cb5fdb8613]Save and Exit.

After that it worked much better. Hope this helps :D

It helped with memory timings and boot problems. My pc would refuse to POST when I changed memory timigs on my old BIOS.
