Windows & was installed and I was installing installing my applications during which time I was receiving Microsoft updates. Some apps were already installed OK but when the updates were completed the PC wouldn't recognise the DVD drive. I had to yse the disc supplied with the new system and start from the beginning. Does anyone know of this please? and if so what is the way forward from it?

Allow Windows to finish updates, don't install programs while update in progress.
