Important questions on timing

Last response: in Overclocking

hello guys i have recently Oc ed my Cpu to 3.2. while i messed with the bios i found this out. My dram freqeuncy was set on auto, making my fsb:D ram to 3:4 and the ram frequecy goes up to 284. But when i change it too 400 mhz the timings go to 1:1 drops too 216 mhz. Are these normal and if they are which settings should i keep .
thanks in advance

You want to keep the faster speed. You're probably using DDR2 533 memory, right? That want's to run normally at 266 MHz. and the "auto" setting will use the 3:4 ratio to get the correct speed off your 200 MHz. FSB. Moving it back to 1:1 will underclock the memory and you lose performance.

Each board seems different in how they handle locking the PCI bus. Some give you a specific setting in your BIOS while others don't. Usually the setting is under "advanced features" or someplace like that.

I believe ECS combines this setting with the "Auto" on your memory. Does it say on that setting anything about "autodetect DIMM & PCI bus"?
