I was wondering if I could get a bit of help on a mobo that my bro made a mistake and bought. The mobo is a Gigabyte GA-6VTXE. The cpu we have is a celeron 1.2Ghz chip. The fsb on the celeron is 100 and the multiplier is 12. Unfortuntely the mobo only supports a maximum multiplier setting of 9.5.
MY question is, will this chip work on this mobo at a max speed of 950mhz OR will the chip not work at all? I fear it not working at all coz of something I heard about intel locking their multipliers. What do you all think?
If its not going to work then well just sell the mobo on ebay and get one that will.
According to the Gigabyte page, your 1.2 Celeron will work just fine on that board... You may have to flash the BIOS, but it should run at the full 1.2 GHz.
