Haven't used FreeBSD. Don't use linux as much as I should, mainly use windows. Lack of applications and games I like for the other platforms.

You missed out the lost but not forgotten BeOS. Rest in Piece.

I am getting more an more into Linux. The first version I installed was slackware 3.something. I don't think I did anything more than type ls and wonder why the text editors were so hard to use. Then I left it until Red hat 5.0. Ran XWindows and stuff but then left it again. I tried a version of freeBSD aswell around the same time, but chose to stick with linux since it has a bigger user takeup. Now I have redhat 7.1 and am using staroffice, gimp and playing GnuChess. I don't believe how bad I've become at chess. I'm sure the 12 year old me would beat the current 22 year old me quite easily.

When I get some time, I'm gonna try to build the latest kernal and stuff and install nVidia graphics drivers. I have a conexant HCF software modem (diamond 56i Pro VCC) so I can't use the internet from Linux. (note how I included modem details so if you know if it is possible to get it working let me know *wink* *wink* )

So, I use Linux for pretty much everything except Games and Internet.

I mostly use windows, but that's cause I game online a lot. I use linux occasionally, but not as much as I should.

Can only vote once so I vote for the one I use most: Windows.
I wanne install Linux on my own PC (did it before), and after I learned more make my home-server to run on it.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground  .

I was a heavy Linux user, and occasional BSD user (I still run Linux as my router/Firewall) untill I left the computer industry. Now I use a computer primarily for entertainment, (Internet, Gaming, Office, etc...) Someday when I have time I may check out some of the latest distro's but for now It's Windows for me.

Blah, Blah Blahh, Blahh, blahh blah blahh, blah blah.

One little word of advice, read the dates before answering. Lately Spitfire has been bumping old POLLS from users who probably don't exist anymore. It's truly annoying and it fools people.
Just a tip so you don't answer to nobody really!

Come on guys. this thread makes way more sense then most of the other threads flying around. You can just stay away if you don't like it.

simple.

or is it still too complicated for you?

Bumping long dead threads for absolutely no damn reason other than to infuriate other forum members makes no sense whatsoever.

No one. But you guys were verbally gang raping the guy for digging up the thread. I thought I should intervene.

That's a little strong. Yeah, this one's at least a little better than most (although it's still gotten people to reply to a user who's probably long gone), but that doesn't mean Eden's way off base.

If we wanted to verbally gang rape him, the language in here would be a lot more colorful. But if spitfire's going to continue to do something that he himself has stated he does as punishment, then comments like "dumbarse" shouldn't be too unexpected.
