What I wanna do with this build is run Photoshop, Cakewalk, Sonar,do some light video editing and play a few of todays games like Call to duty I/II and Wow.

Do you think this set up will get me thru a few of these tasks and into the near future, maybe 2 years or so? Whatever is not listed I will take from the other computer I'm using now. (HP Brio, P2 Celeron 533)

On another post I was shooting for a $500 price range. :? As someone pointed out the video card would kill that price and so I found that out to be true. Would a GS or GT be a better card then the one selected below?

So like anybody/everybody else I wanna save performance and keep costs as low as possible. I currently looking around Pricegrabber (got everything down to $669.11 and $604.11 with rebates), Ebay (new only) and Newegg where I made this list.

Will it all work/run smooth with each other? Might mess with some overclocking in the future.

Please give some feedback and honest opinion on these choices I made.

Thanks for any help!

Just a comment - the big rage out there today is dual CPUs and dual graphics cards. So you may want to get an Athlon 64 X2 and an SLI motherboard just in case.

You do not need SLI or an SLI motherboard as the other poster suggested. However spend the $12 to get the Asus A8N-E. The NF4 Ultra chipset is MUCH better than the normal NF4. Your $12 is well spent on this upgrade.

Only 1GB of RAM is going to be a bottleneck in this system. All the applications you mentioned love RAM and 1GB nowadays is just the bare mininum needed. For $140 you can get 2GB of Corsair ValueRAM. I know this pushes up your budget, but you just will not be happy with only 1GB of RAM.

As the other poster correctly suggests, a dual core processor will greatly enhance your performance. I know you are on a budget, but if you are looking to use this in a business application, spending the money now will give you a much greater ROI.

Oh, and the other thing is, I'd much rather save the $, get dual core CPUs rather than try overclocking.

Now I'm looking to change the Mobo to the Asus A8N - E (thanks Shadowduck!) but the dual core that computershopper suggests is the 64 X2 4400+ and thats $458.00 at Newegg. Now I might have a few windows open but with the current computer I have I'm getting buy with a few of these tasks  , minus the requirements for the games. Without overclocking, is there anything better (Single Core) then what I picked out? I thought I could get by on the cpu's power as is with the option to push it ( clock it ) if i choosed to?

The 3200+ is suppose to be one of the better cpu's to clock... Right?

Thanks, Skeptic

Is the 6800 alright for this set up? Would a GS or GT be a better card then the one selected below?
