Hi, i'm new to Tom's Hardware and i'm considering dropping $1,000 on a couple of video cards because i'm tired of my 6600gt setup and i want to run oblivion at maximum (Hopefully). The 7800gtx series is thus in my price range but i dont know which company i should use? I hear xfx has a lot of technical issues. :?

Any and all suggestions are welcome and much appreciated.

I have XFX 7800GTX's (SLI), and can report no problems. EVGA has been promoted by an associate of mine as being the best in the market if you're going nVidia, though ASUS is still a company I would go after if money isn't an issue.

That being said, the gent who submitted buying 7900GT's has a point, they most likely will beat 7800GTX's at the same or possibly lower prices, may want to hold out a little longer and see what benchmarks say...

Thanks everybody, the 7900gtx sounds good to me but i cant afford it yet (a little over my $1k retirement fund).
Maybe i should just be impatient and go with a couple eVGA 7900gt's. :?:

XFX has the best warranty for both ati and nvidia. EVGA had a great warranty in the past, but changed it. Not all cards have a lifetime warranty. Have to cross reference the card numbers with a list on their site.EVGA and XFX are the only ones that allow overclocking and heat sink removal.

XFX Customer Support really sucks. I tried to get RMA for $300 7800GT. Donot buy XFX. If you need proof, I will send my XFX support ticket

[ 4/2/2009 1:39:28 AM] My Graphics Card just fan is running but not getting any display. If changed to any 2 othergraphics cards that I have I am getting the display. I would like to get the RMA number to return the card for replacement under lifetime warranty. Thanks, Raju.
[DANIEL_E 4/2/2009 1:42:26 AM] For the warranty in order to get the double lifetime warranty the card must be registered within 30 days of the purchase date. Going by the serial number the card was manufactured more than 2 years ago. If you do not have the receipt showing the card was registered within 30 days of the purchase date; then we`ll have to go by the date the card was manufactured. If that`s the case the card is out of warranty. Daniel
[ 4/3/2009 2:34:01 AM] The policy you mentioned is for the items bought after April 17, 2007. I am the original purchaser and I bought my item with the invoice date 12/2/2005. I also registered my product immediately. I have the invoice receipt email for my online order from monarchcomputer. I can forward that email if you need it.Invoice Number: 0351325 Order Number: 0474329 Invoice Date 12/2/2005.
[BRIAN 4/3/2009 7:15:27 PM] Hi Seshu, please email a copy of your invoice to bcxfx123@xfxforce.com with the ticket number as the subject. Thanks, brian.
[ 4/4/2009 8:01:27 PM] Brian, As per your request forwarded my invoice to the email address bcxfx123@xfxforce.com with subject Reference: Ticket ID 219275. Thanks, Raju.
[BRIAN 4/6/2009 11:45:36 PM] Hi Seshu, it looks like the card is out of warranty at this point and we cannot warranty the card at this time. thanks, Brian.
[ 4/7/2009 4:33:17 PM] What do mean by out of warranty. Please explain me Lifetime warranty terms.
[ 4/7/2009 4:36:24 PM] Is lifetime warranty is your marketing gimmick?
[DANIEL_E 4/8/2009 12:57:07 AM] Hi, the lifetime the warranty is only valid if you had registered the card within 30 days of the purchase date. Daniel
[ 4/10/2009 5:26:22 AM] I registered within 30 days of my purchase. Also 30 days registration policy is effective for the cards purchased after April 17, 2007. Not for the cards purchased before that date. Also at that time I received the Far cry game as I registered within 30 days. Please check your warranty terms my registration records carefully and do not reply for the sake of replying. Can you please provide me your supervisor`s phone number. I would like to report breach of your warranty terms to consumer advocates as well as government agencies. Thanks, Raju.
[DANIEL_E 4/10/2009 7:25:40 PM] Hi, the lifetime warranty is only valid if the card had been registered within 30 days of the purchase date. This applies to all video cards 6 series to present series that were purchased in USA or Canada. Daniel
[ 4/11/2009 6:23:11 PM] I registered withing 30 days. Why your are saing I am not registered with in 30 days. I am registered with in 30 days and got far cry game when I bought that card. You have some problems with your systems go check them. Thanks, Raaju
[DANIEL_E 4/13/2009 11:14:19 PM] Hi, the date the card was registered is 12/7/2007. On your receipt does it show the date as being within 30 days of 12/7/2007? Brian verified the date from the receipt you had sent to him. Daniel
[ 4/17/2009 2:00:32 AM] Then how do I got call of duty game. Requirement for it is I have to register in 30 days. And I have the game with me If you need serial number. You guys just want to avoid repairs of your products with some rules. I as customer am stupid buying your card for $300. Learned a lesson and no more xfx in my lifet time
[ 4/17/2009 2:06:06 AM] Also go read warranty policy for 7 series. "It states To qualify, any 6 Series or greatrer Graphics Card purchased on or after April 17, 2007 must be registered within the first 30 days of purchase or the protection for the card will be limited to 1 year." Did I buy after 04/17/2007? NO. Before that date.
[ 4/17/2009 2:12:44 AM] I registered for the game in 12/2005 at the following url. I still have proof of email in my mail box and game. http://www.xfxforce.com/web/marketing/promotion.jspa?promoId=48202+refId=48208. I rereistered my another xfx card in 12/2007
[ 4/17/2009 2:20:23 AM] I registered GF 5500 256MB DDR TV DVI on 12/7/2007. Also explain me the warranty policy you have on your web site, "It states To qualify, any 6 Series or greatrer Graphics Card purchased on or after April 17, 2007 must be registered within the first 30 days of purchase or the protection for the card will be limited to 1 year." Did I buy after 04/17/2007?
[MARK_C 4/17/2009 7:03:08 PM] Hello Seshu, The registration clause was always there. That was when the transferable warranty was added. Thank you. Mark
[ 4/18/2009 2:31:23 AM] Ok. Learned my leasson. So you want me put xfx card into garbage and Neve give you a penny again.

I'm sorry rajugo but you mustn't have registered... I had a card with a fan that would not spin past about 10%. It was not overheating or anything but I contacted XFX and they sent me a new card without me sending mine in first because of time constraints. I have had great experiences with XFX customer support so I do not see why you had so many problems.

Sorry, I must have misunderstood, he must have meant cross return. Surely then it would be a different story. I thought he meant that they send him a new card and did not want the faulty one. That would have been kinda stupid of them.

I really love my XFX 8800GT, although it's fammiliar that all 8800gt's are really hot I haven't had a single problem, crash, overheat whatsoever. And I love that sign for my door (Gaming, don't disturb or whatever it says), it's badass!! xD

Only because xfx has a superior warranty compared to all others. I would put evga at no2 but you have to be careful what card you buy from them as not all are lifetime warranties.
