Problem: Win98SE opens Explorer windows upon startup

It happens every time I start my computer, even if I shut Windows down without any open windows.
I checked the Startup folder, and a couple of registry keys (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run), none had any hint of the stubborn folders.

This problem is getting worse with time, as the number of Windows that open upon startup is gradually increasing.

Thanks for any input,

Prog.

Start>Run..type "msconfig"

Click on the startup tab and trymodifying a few of those things.
