HP Photosmart 2610 Scanning Problem

I recently purchased an HP Photosmart 2610. I installed the HP
All-in-One software and I am unable to scan anything from my new HP
Photosmart 2610. When I open "Director" and click on "Scan Picture" or
"Scan Document", the "HP Scanning" splash screen appears and nothing
ever happens. The spash screen will stay there and my floppy drive
will make noises like it wants to read a disk. The splash screen will
stay on the screen and the floppy will continue to make noises until I
kill the "hpqdstcp.exe" within Task Manager. What is wrong and what
can I do to fix the problem?

My installation is through a network connection that is through my
router.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the HP software at least 5 times.
I've also uninstalled my Anti-virus software and disabled Zone Alarm
during these installations.

I've also tried using the "gr_uninst.exe" that I found on the HP
website. I continued to run this application through level 4 of
uninstallation.

I've also called HP support and was told to uninstall my antivirus
software. That didn't work at all.

Please help!!
