As psychomunkey suggested I will try and expand on my questions and ideas....
1stly I recently brought AMD x2 4200+ , as u see in my sig, I only have a poor (?) quality "perx"
400watt powersupply (btw some hints on a better p/s here would be appreciated) , so my 1st order of
bussiness will be to buy a good quality p/s , possibly antec or thermaltake.
Now as I recently built a pc for a friend , P4 3ghz (his choice) 5xx-series,asrock mobo(again his choice)
(btw have any of u noticed that on most asrock mobos' the agp slot says "not compatible with 3,3volt cards"
?? , and a geforce 6800GT . Not a bad pc , but it overheats a lot = 55 - 60+ degress cel.
So he will be going to South Africa soon and needs to buy a better CPU cooler (is this the right term?)
for his processor, now since I intend to o'clock with my 4200+ I wouldn't mind buying one either.

So my question is Which cpu cooler to buy ?
I will ask further questions later on....lol

like wusy said the arctic freezer is good i have one on my 3700 939
and my brother has one on his 3500 939 clawhammer
it did not change my temps any over the stock one
mine is the sandy core and 90nm
but on my brothers it dropped the temps from 125 to 130
down to around 100f under load
my brothers is the 130nm which runs hotter anyhoo
and for 40$ or less you cant go wrong

Sirheck what are your temps. Im running 36-38 idle, 48-50 load @2.5ghz. I was thinking of getting the Arctic Freezer pro as well. But since you said it didnt drop your temps at all im leaning towards just putting Arctic Silver on the stock heatsink to see if that will have any influence.

Just putting AS5 on your current heat sink (depending on how good your current goo is, of course) could give you like a 5*C drop I think it was. oh and Xabbo, your current temps are fine (by today's standards) if not pretty good. Unless your a freak like me trying frantically to lower your already low temperatures.

with my first mobo msi k8neo4 sli and th3700 @2.5 oced and stock cooler
the temps were 78 to 82f at idle
that board crapped out on me (msi did send me a new one which i gave to my brother) i am running the asus sli deluxe and the same proccesor
at 2.6oced with the arctic freezerand the temps are 80 to 84f at idle
under load on both boards is around 95 to 100f
also i am using the white paste i got from radio shack
and on my brothers
we have not tried the ac5
getting the freezer pro on my asus deluxe was a little tricky
with those heat pipes

the arctic freezer that i have only covers about 85 to 90% of the
proccesor or less you can see it in mine and my brothers
he has the 939 3500 on 130nm which means a little more volts and
more heat i have the same only 3700 90nm which i think is the
diff because the stock hsf seems just fine and it covers the hole
proccesor

could some explain what r / is "vapour chill"

There was a nice review of some Alpine64 HSF, basically an enlarged AMD design, but with a larger, quiet fan, good for about a 5c decrease under load compared to factory sink...

And only $15!!!!

If resorting to vaporchill type cooling, you might want to instead look at the 939 Opterons.....; who forks out hundreds on aftermarket cooling, tehn skimps $20 by getting an X2 over an Opty? :-)

You know who makes the worst fried chicken? Church's. I can't stand their crap. I dunno why all the homies love that place. KFC is way better IMO.

Really? I'll keep that in mind, though I don't think there is a Church's Chicken Res where I live. I just check switchboard... hehe

Church's is popular in the south. I'm not sure why we have them here...

Vaporchill is very expensive but if you are interested in it check out www.asetek.com, but if you are looking for CPU air coolers then check out this comparison Toms did http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/0 [...] u_coolers/
