Hi. I've got a custom-build pc with an Asus A8N-SLI mobo, A64 3500+, gig of cheap memory, 200 gigs of pata HDD (getting a Sata2 80 gig soon), 400W power supply and one EVGA 6600 GT card. I'm looking to get a second card to go SLI, but with the 7600 GT costing around $140, I'm not sure whether I should just get another 6600 GT or not anymore. Can I get some advice on the matter?

well i would go for the 7600gt because its just better

even if the 6600gt was in Sli the 7600gt will still get higher Fps in games

-and the 7600gt doesnt even need a seperate PCI-E power wire to power it

so u should get the 7600gt

-its worth it in every way

Dual 6600GT's will run most games at higher resolutions and frame rates than a 7600GT. My brother has a 7800GTX and at the same resolution i can run more consistant frame rates than he can (doesn't drop a beat on some things that have a noticable hit on his rig).

I currently run a AMD 64 3000+, 2gb ram on a gigabyte SLI MB and 2 gigabyte 6600GT-128's and I have never had any problems running a game with great frame rates.

I always run at 1280x1024 resolution though connected via DVI to a 32' HD LCD.

Right now, getting dual 6600GTs isn't worth it. Maybe a like 6-12 months ago it was still acceptable, but not now.

I totally agree. I had one 6600gt a while ago and about 6 months ago got another, and it is great. It runs everything well, and still runs well. But I would break into the newer cards, or wait for dx 10 and not spend money now.
