Of all this game PC stuff, that is. A few months ago, I seemed happy with my eVGA6800GS card. Then it happened... My kid's games began to show that the card was a bottleneck. At that time, there was NO WAY that I was gonna spend more money on a video card. NO WAY!!! Then our older son talked his mother into getting him a gaming desktop for his birthday. Or, more accurately, he'd contribute all of his fun money plus allowance from here to eternity plus do extra chores and we'd contribute his birthday money to seal the deal. Along the way, I found out about eVGA's upgrade program and the wheels began to spin.

The logic went like this: I could upgrade the 6800 to a 7900GT and put that in my son's box... And then naturally that would justify buying a 7900GTX for mine! Simple, no? But fortunately, it was out of stock everywhere and was thus a moot point. I began looking more closely at reviews of the X1900XTX and it looks to be the top card in many respects. I'd probably not tell much difference between it and the 7900GTX in the games I like (Combat Flight Sim 3, CoD2), not so much because the cards aren't different as much as because I suck so bad I'm too frantic to notice... Alas, I digress. An unexpected cash windfall happened to coincide with Newegg getting the 7900GTX back in stock so I took all of my rationalizations and ordered it!!! At this point, my box is complete enough that I can't see EVER spending more on it. Right? None of you have ever rationalized spending big bucks on toys like that, now have you?

I wonder when prices will come down on larger SATA HDs? I still have two controllers on my mobo...

You can eat the snickers bar because you drank a diet coke because it balances out. At least thats my aunts rationalization.

I gave up on trying to rationalize upgrading. 99% of the time there is no rationalization. So I hold no illusions that dropping $1000 to increase my frame rates by 20% is fuc*king stupid.

don't try to rationalise it. i would never have clicked the buy button on this comp if i weighed up how much i needed it and how much i wanted it. all you have to say to yourself is you want it and can afford it, so you gotta get it.
