Very interesting. I also read up on this Conroe update:

Apparently AMD have a beast to deal with.

It looks like the price war will srart on April 23. If those numbers really happen, it looks like there will be some deals to be had.

Damn those prices look really good! I guess the pries would be like 280-300$ for the lowest rank conroe here.

The 2.4G/4M version at $316 looks like a nice price point....

It'll be nice to see "on the streets" benchmarks of both stock/overclocked Conroes and AM2 rigs running with DDR2/800/1066/1333 etc...

That's what I'm thinking too and if that's the case, that's a great deal even for new technology.

I am building a new system and have everything finished and waiting except the motherboard, memory and cpu. I was going AMD AM2 but unless they do something amazing I am going with Conroe! Wow those are geat prices and "if" the benchmarks are true it will be a GREAT year for computer builders.

I'm pretty much in the same situation as you but I want to see some real benchmarks from Conroe before I go Intel. Maybe I can believe everything I've read about Conroe because the tech industry would never hype a product and make claims that aren't true. Step 1 is to see what the benchies are going to be for AM2.

I just wonder if they will make any good agp boards. I just can't see buying a video card just to up grade.
