Windows 8 User Folder

In an effort to improve windows 8 email I was advised to click on 'refresh' while in control panel. After refreshing and the restart I found I'd lost all my desktop programmes including Word, Excel, Office, Adobe and others.....
Any help for this?

You lost your programs or you lost the shortcuts that refer to those programs?

Maybe do a reboot and see if they are there. If not, copy shortcuts back from the Start Menus, All Programs locations. If not there, manually create shortcuts where you want them.

If you lost your applications when hitting refresh, you need to provide a lot more detail than this as I see this as being simply impossible.

He is correct if you do refresh in Windows 8 you will loose down loaded applications. Windows 8 will make a folder and put all the app in however no way to restore them just went through this with my sister in laws computer Microsoft said can't be restored have to re download the applications
