Windows 7 x64 - Slow keyboard input problem

hi,

all of a sudden my key board my keyboard has gone nuts.
each letter lags my actual keystroke by atleast 5secs,n even the spacebar.

i cannot even type any thing in caps.

can anyone please help?

What sort of keyboard, i.e. wireless, USB, etc...?

Thanks for your response!
The keyboard is a Logitch wireless.
Have already inserted new batteries into the remote unit but "No Change"
Should I just dump this keyboard and purchase a new wireless one?
What if this fault is due to some software adjustment in the PC?
