I have a Canon N670U. I had to buy it in a hurry for a project. It isn't the fastest and doesn't have a 14in scanbed. It is slim, powered via USB and rugged. It fell to the floor (bare terrazo) when my rickety desk collapsed. It is still working. I was convinced I had destroyed it. I just wish that Canon made one with a longer scan bed.
Yeah, I have the N1240U which costs a little under $200USD now. It's an amazing scanner. It uses no separate power supply (it takes power from the USB port), it's fast, it has excellent quality (although at higher resolution it picks up little particles of dust on the glass, and it includes Adobe Photoshop Elements.
