I orded a ATI Radeon X1900XTX 512mb PCIe video card in early march and when I recieved it, the memory was bad. I RMA'd the order and recieved my new one and had the same problem. I have RMA'd the next one and have been wandering...If the same problem happens again for the 3rd time should I swap the video card out for the eVGA e-GeForce 7900GTX 512mb PCIe video card or just keep on until I get one of the ATI's that work correctly?
Note: I realise that there are other websites with lower prices for similar video cards. At the time...there was not and I want Retail only, not OEM! Also I can only exchange the video cards...as in no refunds and then order from another place. So, I will have $550 to spend on this issue if the vid card is bad and your opinions on the matter will not go overlooked.
Also I know the the performances of the cards are very similar and I play near every game so I am not one that would benefit from optimization of one card or the other..."I just prefer ATI and that is why I bought that one" but I am not ATI or nVidia Bias. (I used to have an eVGA 7800GT 256mb PCIe video card)
Here are the 2 cards...one I bought and one I am looking at getting if...
The 7900 GTX is a fine card, even beats the X1900 in some things. If you're luck is bad with the X1900's there's nothing wrong with getting a 7900 GTX.
Pity if you can't get the X1900 XT though, they're really very good.
Stick with the ati X1900XTX cuz thats waht I've got, in the long run its only worth the $money$ if you are going to set it in high res, and use full AA and AS , if not stick with the 7900gtx, both great card, you cant go wrong with neither of them.
