My friend and I have very similar rigs. We both have an Asus A8N-32 Sli Deluxe and amd 64 X2 4800 cpu.

My friend ran 3dmark06. His cpu score was scored 1807 (that’s just the cpu score). MY cpu score was a bit over 900, half his.

We both have 2 gigs of ram (he has coisier, I have ocz). He has 2 7800GT, I have 2 7900GTX.

Why would my cpu get half the score of his. He is not over clocked btw.

Only 1 CPU is being tested, make sure Windows is using the Multi-Core Kernel (device manager will say MultiProcessor ACPI), and make sure the affinity in TaskManager is set to both CPU's for 3dmark06.exe (i think that's it) and that your BIOS is flashed to support X2's.

thanks Mike!

How do I tell if windows is using multi-core and if it's not, how to I make it?

Go to Device Manager, click "Computer" and see if it says UNI or MULTI Processor. If it's UNI, right click it and update driver, and you can change it to Multiprocessor.

I guess I'm a noob. When I go to device manager and click on 'computer', it expands to say "Advanced configuration and power interface (ACPI) PC'

You seem to have the same problem I had when I installed my Opteron (previously had a FX-55). You have the wrong HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer).

This is a link to a guide on how to change your HAL. Follow the instructions for WinXP.

If you follow that guide, then reboot, you should select the option ACPI+APIC (correct for your motherboard - I have the same) on the DOS boot selection screen.
