Been looking for a new card to run The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion since mine couldn't and I am looking at these two.

Right now I'm just using some pos 6200 that I recently bought at bestbuy and am planning on returning as soon as I get a better one. If someone wants to suggest a different card just keep in mind I'd like a nvidia and at least 6800. Thanks

I would go with the 6800GS because it will perform a lot better the the vanilla 6800.

While you might be tempted to get the Aopen DON"T!!

Get the 6800GS

The PNY 6800GS for less than $20 more is a great card and PNY enjoys better feedback from users than Aopen.

if u want to play oblivion at higher details id say go all out for the 7800gs. sure agp is dead, but the 7800 will last at least 2 years and a full year on high settings. also, if u play at 1280x1024 a 6800 any series wont let u run the game at high settings, ull be forced to run at medium for stable fps... and IMO that game is very hard to play when the details are that low :( its a shame... when the tree/grass distance is like 2 steps ahead of u... just makes me want to play css. IMO 7800gs if u can afford is the best card for oblivion on agp... and if ur budget is even bigger gainward makes a 7800gs with 20 pipelines and 512 memory, that will eat up oblivion... my 7800gs runs oblivon at 1280x1024 with around 45 fps on higher settings and hdr... i duno if the settings are maxxed or not but it looks amazing.

thanks a lot for the feedback guys. In reguards to the 7800 it's just too rich for my blood right now, much rather spend that extra money on more ram.

AGP or PCI-e? (sorry if I missed that part)

I'd personally get the 7600 GT (if you have PCI-e) or this card if you have AGP. For right around $300 (total - that includes the video card), you can also purchase 1 GB of some pretty decent Ram (such as 2x512 mb of Corsair XMS @ 2-3-3-6 timings).
