Unlocking original mac book

Last response: in Mac Os X

I have got a macbook from a friend that died last year, and I do not have the administrative password for it, nor does anyone else.

It is open, but set up where I cannot update any software without it, and because it's the original mac book plastic case one from 2008 everything at this point is out of date. It doesn't even have a wifi card because back then the air port was $250 so he didn't get it. What to do?

If you boot off of the OS restore disc, once you select the language, you can use the password reset tool under the utility menu. Any OS restore disc should work, but it's generally best if it's matched to the major OS version you have.
