Hi,
I'm looking for a new grafic card and I was considering the GeForce 7600 GT altho I heard that the 6800 GT is also good but I'm not sure whats equal or better to a 7600 GT. The game I'll play mostly with the card is World of Warcraft and I have very huge problems with a 7600 gS.

Thank you

Hi Whattobuy,

Here are my opinions on this:

1) The 7600 GT certainly has better and faster clock speeds. The 6800 has got 4 more pipelines.

2) Performance wise, I think the 7600GT wins out. How do I know? Well, I did check out performance scores for both cards and the conclusion tends to be the 7600GT coming up with better scores with it in almost every benchmark.

3) The issue with the 7600GT cards is heating. These buggers can get quite hot, especially if you overclock them. If you have a cooler fan, then its great - otherwise you may want to consider getting one.

4) The 7600GT is also good in the sense that it doesn't need a connection to the power supply. I'm not sure if that is an advantage, maybe it'll be useful in cases where your PC gets zapped by lightning or something :)

5) Size - the 7600GT is compact and smaller than the 6800GT. This may save you some space in your case.

If you wish to learn more about the 7600GT, 6800GT or other video cards, here is an interesting article to read.

Heating...with overclocking maybe...but stock...no...just no..the 6800 gt gets hot if anything.

best card and best deal. You won't find a better 7600 GT.

I own one, no external power plugs. Idles around 45c and full load at 65c.

thanks for your replies but I'm a little bit worried that the 7600 GT only has a 128 bit interface and the 6800 a 256 bit interface? Not really sure how important it is but anyways :?

even tho the 7600 only has half the memory of a 6800, its the architecture of the card and the clock/memory speeds that make it faster. just get the 7600 IMO

Own a 7600GT.

I play Toca3 and will be loading up Call of Duty 2 to see how it looks.

I have an SLI board. When the 7600GT is about $100 to $110 I'll buy another one.

Well hey man. I havea bit of a different opinion to the rest of the guys. I have a 6800GT overclocked at 422/1.16 and up till now there is no problem in temperature or performance. I play fear and oblivion maxed out at 1280 *1024 without lag. The max temperature i have reached is 62'C. I have a MSI 6800 GT and my advice would be to get the 6800GT. But thts my personal opinion.
