Long shot, I know... SLI and Crossfire

I bought an Asus A8N-SLI board and an x1600pro Crossfire card because it was cheap ($130). Is there any way to hack the hardware to run another card in Crossfire? I'm sure it's probably like trying to stuff an intel chip in an AMD board but I thought I'd ask just in case.

I didn't know Crossfire was software. So the only way to figure out if it's locked is to try and activate it with another card? But how could it be locked if it's controlled by ATI's drivers?

I have not actually seen anyone doing this yet because people who buy SLI mobo isn't crazy enough run Crossfire.

I got this board with SLI in mind but I didn't have the cash for decent SLI cards. So I opted for the best deal sub-$150 until I can afford what I want. But now how can I turn down an experiment like this?
