I have recently added a sata2 drive to my IDE driven pc. The drive is in, formatted, and win explorer recognizes it, but in device manager - harddisk controllers - nforce4 serial ata controller - there is NO drive detected! As a result i cannot adjust transfer settings etc..

Please help.

The properties for the hard disk itself are not normally under the hard disk controller. There should be a separate heading for Disk Drives, and it should be listed there. See my Device Manager below:

Device manager - ide ata/atapi controllers - nforce4 parallel ata controller
- nforce4 serial ata controller
- etc...

My 2 optical drives and 1 ide harddrive are correctly displayed in nforce4 parallel ata controller, but nothing detected under serial ata controller...
