Data apparently lost from Storage Card

Hi all,

I have a Compaq iPAQ 3850 running PocketPC 2002 which has worked fine for
the last couple of years. It has a Compaq 128Mb Storage Card on which I keep
all my PocketWord and PocketExcel files (which I don't want to lose), and
some program files.

Since yesterday, I can't seem to access any of the files or programs on the
storage card.

Start-> Settings -> System -> Memory -> Storage card - shows the card is
still present with 68Mb free, yet File Explorer shows the Storage Card as
empty.

I can still save some new dummy files to the Storage Card (and delete them),
it's just that all the old (important!) files don't seem to be visible or
accessable.

Has anyone any idea as to what's gone wrong please? I've tried soft
re-booting, and re-inserting the Staorage Card. I haven't knowingly done
anything different to the iPAQ, apart from running ActiveSync which I've
done regularly over the past 2 years.

Regards,

Robin

If you have a card reader for your pc, try to see if it will read it. If it
doesnt read the missing files but at least can read the card you can run
scandisk on the card just like a disk and it can fix file problems (I have
had this happen several times). If you do not have a card reader then I
don't know what to suggest.

Hi rcltrh,

That seemed like a good idea, but I didn't have a card reader, so I went out
and bought one. Even though chkdsk has corrected some problems, and reports
133 files in 50.6Mb out of the 128Mb on the card, when I go to File Explorer
nothing is showing apart from a couple of dummy files I have recently
created since the problems started. Any other ideas please?

Regards,

Robin

hit similar problem the other night - files wouldnt show up in file
explorer and when i tried on PC nothing doing either, this was on a
new ipag 2210 that id been messing around with so nothing important on
the card as yet so I gave the files up as lost and chalked it up to
experience,

however doing a find files displayed them all I could access them no
probs doing that and afterwards found that I could see them in file
explorer
