I`m using Bit Defender Professional 9, but I don`t think that is a problem.
The RAM is working proprely (2x512 Geil PC3200), and the MB was changed because I had random reboots. The CPU Temp is Ok, alos MB`s temp. I can`t explain that ! You think it`s a software problem?! Maybe my HDD ? But he hasn`t no errors ...
My system is pretty similar to yours, only a 3500+ and a different brand of memory. Anyways, this happened to me today, while installing a SATA hard drive. I had had 2 PATA drives on a cable, the boot drive being master and I removed a the slave drive to make room for the SATA to sit in front of the fan. However, I forgot to consider jumper settings and it turns out that on my WD80gig, master is not the same as single. So I checked the jumper settings, removed it to signify single drive and viola.
... now when am I going to stop hitting new topic when I want to hit reply...

The problem for my system is the long boot, finished some times with a block after I must reset it. I can`t explain that. It boots until Windows Logo and it blocks, but sometimes it`s a long boot but succesfull.
