No, word is that IBM is leading troupes of semiconductor manufacturers into an alliance with the aim to stop La Intella being the biggest chip company in the known cosmos.
'Word is'? It doesn't even say what it's source is. As a peice of journalism it's absolute crap, and as such should be ignored.
And IBM, who's biggest (I'm guessing, correct me if I'm wrong) processor contract is Apple G4/G5 processors aren't exactly going to be popular at Apple if they start a 'plot' against Apple's new best buddies.
very vague in parts, however alot of these articles from what ive heard(hows that for vague) have a shred of truth in them. we'll see what develops although regardless of what IBM do, getting the mass consumers to change their buying habits may be impossible.
I am guessing that its not really some hidden agenda to take out Intel but more like looking for something that makes sense from a business perspective.
Maybe to IBM, AMD is just a better customer to develope with at the time. They are probably a little hungrier and were willing to do more to gain market share so IBM gets more out of the deal.
