We have a networked LaserJet 5000GN to which we
print from Windows PCs. From certain PCs, we
cannot print multiple copies via the PostScript
driver: when you print a document with a copy
count of 2 or more, only the firest copy prints,
and in fact if you watch the print queue window
you'll see that only one copy is actually sent to
the queue.
Has anyone else seen this problem? Do any of you
have suggestions?
Here are the details:
1. The problem mostly concerns the PostScript
driver; the PCL 6 driver works just fine for most
documents, although the effected PCs cannot print
multiple copies of PDF documents via the PCL
driver.
2. With the PostScript driver, the problem isn't
application-specific -- it happens with every app
we've tried, from MS Word to PageMaker, to
CorelDRAW.
3. The problem only occurs on Win2K and WinXP PCs,
and not all of those. BTW, these are Win2K/XP Pro,
of course.
4. The Win2K/XP PCs that have this problem are
generally similar to the ones that don't: they
typically have the same applications installed,
have the same versions of the LJ5K PostScript
driver, etc. Clearly they're not identical, but
there are no glaringly-obvious differences.
5. The 5000GN is directly connected to the
network, but is shared from a WinNT server running
an old version of JetAdmin. I should upgrade to
the latest version of WebAdmin, preferably running
on a Win2K server; however, this is the most
heavily used printer we have, so I don't want to
make so disruptive a change unless I have good
reason to think it'll actually help.
