Does the Z-5300e accept a digital input? If not, you won't get surround sound as most DVD players only have 2-channel analog outs. That's as much as I can answer about "compadable" since your question is so vague.
I don't own the Z-5300 so I'm not entirely sure what this *great* sound you are alluding to, but as long as it's in a nearfield environment, the drivers are pointed at your ears and at ear level, and in fact 2-channel is acceptable to you, I doubt it would sound any different than any other 2-channel source, given the DAC on the DVD player isn't horrid compared to what you are used to.
