hello people, just a quick question, iam putting toegther a budget system for a friend and am looking at pentium processors and feeling a little confused as they have change somewhat since i bulit my system, do i go for a d processor or a 636 processor or a 3.0g e processor as they the same, i was thinking of a 636?? i think it was well priced, ideas?

if you are going to buy Pentium, make sure it's CedarMill 65nm, better yet Pentium D Presler (dualcore).

Currently, unless you are planning to overclock, AMD is better than Intel. Pick up a Athlon 64 3400 for a good price....

better yet, wait a couple of months, and buy Conroe. Conroe will be the best, and the cheapest yet! :D

I would look at the 900 series. The 920 is priced well for a budget system. Also, if you see the dual core 805 at a much lower price than the other dual core processors, it is because it has a 533 Mhz FSB; I would stay away from that!

P4 631 Cedar Mill core, if you must get an InHell (cause they run so damn hot)

I'd say to get an A64 3000+ s939 for $120
