More about buying computer worth
  1. If you are going spend the money I would look for something with PCIe graphics, AGP is dead tech.
  2. AMD 3000+ cpu 64 bit Athlon ~120
    mobo M871G mobo ~50
    512 pc3200 ddr ram ~40
    160 gig harddrive -New ~80
    New DVD burner ~40
    New case ?

Might be abit low on the cpu but what the ...
u got roughly ~330-350$ + case if u buy them new
    So a case for 150$???

So if u get the parts for 300-350 (as I cant tell what the case is and whats it goes for its hard to tell - can be worth 400+ but hardly 500)then u got a good deal for me I think 500 looks way to much
Sure if u buy awerything new then parhaps then it is 500 but prob less online. And now we are talking second hand even if u get good varanties and so on.
  3. Im Canadian, i think i should have mentioned that before, i think that makes a difference in the prices for the new pieces. When i was looking online to compair, a 160GB hd was at least $115 and it would be around $200 plus tax and shipping for a MB/CPU. Mabye i am not looking at the right sites or something, cause i used tigerdirect.ca for the price comparisons. Anyways, thanks for the feedback

Tigerdirect sucks, its like ... i don't know just really bad.

    Use NCIX and/or MemoryExpress

    ncix.com
    memoryexpress.com
  5. buy it for 500 buy a 80 dollar PCI-express motherboard and a video card to fit your budget plus another stick of 512 and you have yourself a decent computer. all in all the upgrades should cost anywhere from 300-500...have fun
