This is the system I am looking to build in the next week or two. Please review and comment on any of the compoents you see fit or unfit. System is for basic needs (email & porn) no heavy gaming or rednering. One question I have is if the PSU is sufficient. Thanks in advance.

Throw away that Raptor, it's a PoS. Get a SATA2 200GB, alot cheaper and only slightly slower. Other than that, it's a good build.

~~Mad Mod Mike, fixin' the world 1 rig at a time
  2. I would also opt for a different hard drive. I won't debate whether the Raptor is a PoS, but seems to me it's irrelevant as you don't need to spend the extra for added performance. Go for more space in that SATA2 200GB.
  3. If really just for e-mail, I wouldn't spend nearly this much on a rig. I would go with a cheap sempron processor, maybe only 512 MB ram, and a cheaper hd as others have suggested

Hey that new High-def porn can really test a system! :P
  5. Your parts list is all good, but if you are not gaming then you can delete or postpone the videocard expense by substituting an A8N-VM CSM Asus mobo with 6150 graphics for the A8N-E. Also, I would choose a better CPU cooler. The one you list requires assembly before you install the mobo, and cools little better than the stock AMD unit. It is quieter though. I use the Zalman to cool a 2.4 Northwood. It's a breeze to install on Intel systems but the stock HSF cools just as well. You will like the X2 though, even for day to day work. Nothing slows it down.
  6. heck of a porn machine...if you are joking than its good for gaming and work and if you arent than holy crap your a loser... o and spend about a grand less on it
  7. Thanks for the help. I have to disagree with you though the tests on this website as well as others clearly show the Raptor is faster at boot-up times and average read and write times. I realize it doesn't have the largest capacity but I already have a few large drives for excess storage. I am merely looking for performance here and the raptor is second to none. I did finally purchase the system with a few minor changes as follows.

Crucial Ballistix 2x512MB DDR400 instead of Crosair
Antec Sonata II instead of Thermaltake case and PSU cleary more bang for the buck.
XFX PV-T71G-UDE7 GeForce 7900 GT instead of evga I like the price to performance much better with the XFX.
  8. Man if you aren't heavy on games then why bother with a 7900GT? Pretty overkill for email like others said. Since you already spent the money, you might as well start gaming. It's more constructive than porn in my opinion.
