Magicbane or Vorpal Blade

I have a level 9 Archeologist going and was wondering which of these
would be better. I think I can only get to basic skill level for each
type.

Right now I am using Magicbane.

My last char died on the Astral Planes.

No, archeologists are restricted with long swords, so you'll get heavy
maluses and won't be able to enhance your weapon proficiency with it.

Things change if you get a longsword from a successful sacrifice; then
you'll become unrestricted and can enhance your skill up to basic.

That's very fine I'd say. Magicbane has very nice properties.

If you happen to get some additional silver saber, that would be good
(you can become expert in it). Then you can also advance your two-weapon
proficiency with these weapons if you like.
