Shocking discovery... X1900 temps

Well, it seems that I made quite a big bolls up. Last night I came to this shocking discovery...

Upon installing ATiTool, I selected to disable the CCC threads for overclocking an ATi card. This made my Gcard run at 500/600mhz always, and hence in 3d games the clocks never raised.

This would explain the fact that I never got over 70C in most games - and hence my claims of low temps. For that, I apologize to anyone I have told that the XTX can run these temps... :oops:

I now run close to 80C, never above, but nonetheless higher. The funny thing is that in Oblivion the performance hit wasn't so great (500/600mhz vs 648/774mhz). The game plays the same in both scenarios, minus the extra few fps, but outside the difference is something like 2-4fps. Just shows one how powerful the X1900 architecture is.

SO, I recon one can play Oblivion with a XT/XTX "underclocked" - resulting in lower temp and lower noise and the cost of a few fps...
