I am new to forums, but would value your opinions on the following
I am upgrading my current system to a new gaming system. I only use my system for gaming. Proposed system:
AMD FX60 dual core cpu
Ati sapphire blizzard x1900xtx video card
WD 10000 rpm raptor 150gb HDD
Gigabyte ga k8nf 9 MB
OCZ 2 x 2 gig 500MHz CAS 3 3 2 8 ram
Lian li case V1000B
pc power & cooling turbo cool 1KW psu
8O i've been dreaming that computer since it was available, sow if you're like rich, get it, it's the best money can buy 8) , that is if you don't want xfire :?
Great case, I have the silver one..... it is a dream to work on.....
As for everything else, if it were me...... I would buy either the Asus A8N Premium or a DFI Lanparty series mobo. As for power, I would go with something closer to 500w that is reputable. And for the Processor, you can save at least $500 and go with an Opteron that will reach that speed with an average overclock..... I would get a 170 series Opty, or 165, but with the 10+ multiplier it is a little easier to get to 2.5 ghz, with a 1000 HTT, and memory at 500, or you can slow the memory down a little and bump it above the FX60 if the memory won't clock higher than 500. But really anyway you look at it, The opterons are FX60's with a different name. And the only reason I recomment the boards that I do is because I have had great luck overclocking on DFI and almost as good on Asus, and they are both ROCK SOLID STABLE. Not to discount Giga, just haven't used on in a while. My setup is.....
Opteron 165 @ 2.7 stable. 1.48-1.5 Volts
V1000 (the silver one) although the black one looks pretty damn nice
2 7800GTX's (sli cause the second card only cost me $100USD,
Overclocked to 1300 memory, and 480 core)
Asus A8N SLI Premium
2 74GB Raptors Raid 0
2 250 Seagate 7200.8 or 7200.9 can't remember Raid 0
1 250 Maxtor (the other one died, they were raided 0)
2 gb Corsair DDR 500(don't get corsair, I have had bad luck, OCZ is good)
480 Antec Neo Power Modular
SB X-FI
of course the two standard DVD-RW's plus the hand me down DVD-RAM drive I was given.
With all of that in my case that is why I say you don't need the KW powersupply. Just get an efficient 500w. And for gaming, the difference between the FX60 and the Opteron is miniscule, unless you are playing at low settings, you won't see a difference running fraps, that is noticable, and you really won't notice it without some programs benchmarking it for you. All that being said..... it's your money, and if you buy all that stuff you can say that you have the fastest processor you can buy(stock) and a 1KW powersupply to drain the neighborhood with. Not telling you not to do it, just saying you can get as much or more while spending ALOT less money. Take it with a grain of salt......
Looks super nice!
If there is any chance you want to do crossfire in the future, you might want to look at a Crossfire xpress 3200 motherboard, Asus was the 1st and now Abit has one.
Very nice, especially the case. Seems like anything from Lian Li is golden... As far as the mobo, I might look into a board that supports Crossfire. With a rig as powerful as the one you have configured, I would like to leave room for that upgrade. Buying another x1900xtx may be a bit prohibitive today, but give it a little more time, and the price should drop enough that buying a second card wouldn't break the bank. Just my opinion. Other than that, I think your rig looks ideal. Good luck and happy building

Those Asus crossfire 3200 boards have major problems. I was reading about it yesterday in another forum and saw it on this one also.
What kind of corsair ram did you have problems with? If it was value ram, thats cause your hardcore overclocking and the value ram isnt good for that.
just get a 4800 for a cpu. much cheaper. if you have that much cash get C/F straight away. get any 3200 mobo. apart from that i only want to know what soundcard, speakers and monitor you are getting.
I've been researching the a8r32-mvp for about a month now. I've read the horror stories, too. There are so many more bad stories about the a8n32-sli, and people keep buying those. I still plan on buying the crossfire board.
I agree with StrangeStranger in his thoughts. Even though you seem to have an unlimited budget, an X2 4800+ will do the job fine. Then, use the money saved to buy a Crossfire mobo, a X1900XT (XTX if you prefer), a 1900 CF edition if needed, and a sick watercooling system. Just because the Sapphire Blizzard comes with one doesn't mean you can't get a better one to do the whole case with. Also, drop the 150GB Raptor and get 2 (or 4) 74GB Raptors in raid0. The power supply is fine, but I bet that thing will be really loud.
You seem to have no peripherals, or a soundcard. If I may suggest, an X-Fi series soundcard will do you well (pick which one has the features you want). For a gaming monitor, a Viewsonic VX922 is pretty much top dog in LCD's.
