Hi Tech Gurus, need an advise. I am using a Intel Xeon CPU and the fan power connector can be connected directly to motherboard or it also can be connect to the PC power supply (thru a adapter). I am hearing different opinion out there which option is a better choice. Or there is no difference at all. Can someone here share their opinion on the above.

its posssible to do that

but if u plug into your powersupply your motherboard might give u a warning saying the CPU fan isnt spinning and will give u a boot error
but u can disable it in BIOS ...

also your motherboard will control the speed of your fan , u know temp control n such

-when plugged into the PSU the fan is at a non adjustable state

im guessing u have a server soo i think u dont worry about noise

in my opinion i dont think there will be a difference

-based on past experience with cpu coolers

jesus loves u
