Hey guys

I've done a little stripmining from a few old systems and have put togther a complete system for a younger cousin of mine. Just wanted to know if I can stick in a new Graphic card and if I can will the rest of the system cause too much of a bottleneck to bother ?

The main aim is to spend as little as possible and get him a workable system.

System
A7V266-e
AMD 1700XP 1.46Ghz (Great Overcloking card btw)
1GB RAM (mismatched 256MB, 256MB, 512MB ,have run benchmarks and mem test and its stable)
1x10GB HDD Firebird
1x20GB HDD Maxtor
Vibra 128 soundcard or some such thing
52x CDROM
Geforce3 Ti200 256MB Sparkle

Just want to know if
A) I can swap the G3 for a 6600
B) Will it make enough of a difference to be worth the money (i.e. will system cause too big a bottleneck ?

You would definately a HUGE improvement in gaming. Don't anything above a 6800 Vanilla, not worth it for that comp. You should just look at either a X800 GTO, or 6600GT, or if you wanted to save more money get a 6600 Vanilla.

I wasn't aware that a GeForce 3 Ti200 256 Mb card was ever made.. if that's right, god what a bad card.

Hehehe yep thoes crazy Tiwanese whacked an extra 128MB on the card, only company to do it. Ironically also the cheapest card of that type at the time.
