Hi folks,

on my Palm Tungsten I used a database called HanDBase. It was not too
bad.
Would you reckon that for my new IPAQ 2210 this is also the best tip
or are there other more user friendly or versatile databases around?

Cheers from New Zealand

You should look first at SQL Server CE 2.0 and the upcoming SQL Mobile
from Microsoft.

I'm using HanDBase Professional on my iPaq 4350 and I think it's fine for
most simple to medium complexity database applications.

SprintPro DB is probably better suited for complex applications or if
you've heaps of room on your desktop (and a broadband connection) you
could try the suggested SQL server CE.

I agree with pretty much everything Keith said.

However, SQL Server CE is definitely not an entry-level database option.

HanDBase works great on the Pocket PC and nier won't have to make
changes to port the existing database from the Palm to the PPC.

Hi Daren,
this looks impressive and is in an early stage, and as I understand
it, still for free.
But probably not very user friendly for someone who frequently
scratches behind his ears using Access??

Cheers

The best and most user friendly I found was Grandasoft's XSForms,
which creates and stores XML data for its database. Ordinary users
have uploaded a lot of pro-forma database layouts, such as CD library,
expense account logs and so on. Check out their site, it's still free

http://www.grandasoft.com/

There is a separate PC based forms-designer, much like you'll have
used for Access to generate form layouts for data capture.

You can sync up the XML data with a selected web server if you like
(though you'll have to do some file upload scripting)
